Prayers and Dedications

Dedication is a naturally beneficial mind. This beneficial intention functions both to prevent accumulated virtue or positive energy from degenerating and to cause its increase. By dedicating your merit and virtuous actions to the happiness of all living beings, and especially to the flourishing of pure Kadam Dharma, you multiply your good qualities, increase your good karma, and have a positive effect on the minds of others.

Just as we value our own peace and happiness, so too should we value the peace and happiness of all living beings; and just as we work to free ourself from suffering and problems, so too should we work to free others. – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Kadampa Meditation Center GA, part of the New Kadampa Tradition, was established in Atlanta, Georgia in 1998 with the intention of benefiting others by sharing Buddha's instructions on cultivating inner peace, attaining freedom from suffering, and developing love and compassion for all living beings. As part of this vision, KMC GA offers meditation classes and Buddhist study courses, as well as workshops and retreats that are open to everyone.

In April of 2007, KMC GA opened its World Peace Café, a vegetarian restaurant whose aim is to enhance and serve the community by providing a serene atmosphere where people can enjoy healthy, delicious food served by volunteers dedicated to the Buddhist principles of peace, happiness, and concern for all living beings.

In September of 2009, due to the kindness of many benefactors and the International Temples Project, KMC GA was able to acquire a large building on two acres of land located at 6860 Peachtree-Dunwoody Road in the Sandy Springs community. This site is to serve as the new home for Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia.

Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible. – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia is part of the International Kadampa Buddhist Union and is dedicated to world peace. The Center provides an inspiring and tranquil environment for meditation and is considered a sanctuary for people in Atlanta and the Southeast. Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia is conveniently located in North Atlanta in the Sandy Springs community, a short distance from the MARTA North Springs station.

At Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia, visitors will find an in-city oasis with a charming old Southern manor set amidst two wooded acres. A large meditation room featuring many beautiful Buddhist statues provides an inspiring setting for classes, workshops and retreats. A small gift shop carries Buddhist literature and inspirational items. The welcoming atmosphere makes one feel at home, and there are many areas for socializing and enjoying a cup of tea while meeting new spiritual friends. A spacious patio in the back overlooks a serene, natural setting. The Center also provides housing for a small community of practitioners who have chosen to live a meaningful life dedicated to service and spiritual development.

Everyone is welcome to visit and enjoy this very special place.

Just looking at a Temple with a happy mind brings inner peace. – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

A Kadampa Meditation Center (KMC) is a special Kadampa Dharma Center that serves local, national and international communities. In addition to offering a full program of courses to the local community, KMCs host major gatherings such as Dharma Celebrations, National Festivals and International Festivals. KMCs are also home to International Kadampa Temples, special buildings dedicated to world peace. KMCs are non-profit organizations and their annual profits are donated to the International Temples Project.

International Temples Project

We pray that in the future, similar Temples will develop throughout the world, in every major city of every country, and dedicate the creation of these Temples to world peace and for the happiness of all living beings. – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

The International Temples project, initiated by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, is an auspicious project to build a World Peace Temple in every major city throughout the world. A Kadampa Temple is a special, holy object that bestows powerful blessings and inspires visitors to attain inner and outer peace. Each Temple is dedicated to world peace and to the freedom and happiness of all living beings.
