The Benefactor Program

See also: Benefactor Program | Capital Campaign

Every time you give to a Dharma Center, you are creating the cause to help someone else increase their happiness and you are creating the cause to increase your own happiness. Not just temporary happiness, but lasting happiness, because happiness is a state of mind and therefore can only come from a result of training the mind. When you give to an organization whose sole purpose is to increase the happiness of others, you improve your own mind and help countless other living beings to do the same.

Here are the different things you will help to support with your donation:

  • General operating costs — rent (in branch locations, the cost of renting a classroom space), maintenance, utilities, Center vehicle
  • Meditation hall — beautiful statues of Buddhas, thangkas, paintings, shrine offerings, chairs for students, sound system for classes and chanted prayers
  • Bookstore/Gift shop — books, Buddhist personal items such as malas (prayer beads), offering bowls, book covers, posters, Buddhist greeting cards, statues, etc. Also, shop and cafe items such as display cases, cafe tables/chairs, tablecloths, and other furniture items
  • Publicity — newspaper ads, brochures, website, etc.
  • Teacher Care — day-to-day needs of a Resident Teacher, including food, living, and health expenses; travel expenses for teachings given outside the Center and travel to the Summer Festival/Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's Teachings.

Field of Merit Fund

A unique aspect of the Benefactor Program is that it also adds to our savings towards a self-owned Buddhist Church/Temple. A certain portion of your contribution each month is added to the Field of Merit Fund. To learn more about the Field of Merit Fund, and our wish to create a self-owned Dharma Center, please see our Capital Campaign page.
