Sundays in the main meditation hall
Meditation was never meant to be confined to the meditation seat. Especially during our modern times, more than ever we need to take our spiritual practices into everyday life and learn to transform whatever appears into the spiritual path. In this way we can make every moment enriching and lead a truly fulfilling life, at peace and truly happy, here and beyond.
This series will explore how to use Buddha’s advice for those wishing to lead a most altruistic life which he called, “The Practice of the Six Perfections”.
Dec 18: Tranquil Abiding
Dec 25: Special Prayers for World Peace
Jan 1: Freedom through Wisdom
Jan 8: Wisdom Energy
Jan 15: Ultimate Reality
Make Sundays meaningful. Meet like-minded people and bring the whole family. These classes are suitable for those curious about Buddhism and meditation, and any level of interest.
Sunday Services is a new program designed to accommodate the lives of Atlantans who don't have time to attend weeknight classes or study programs but who still consider it important to set time aside during their weekend for spiritual development.
In the book Eight Steps to Happiness, Geshe Kelsang advises
We do not need to abandon our family, friends, or enjoyments, and retire to a mountain cave. All we need to do is change our object of cherishing.
By taking to heart the Sunday teachings from our Resident Teacher, Gen Mondrub, we will learn how to bring these teachings into our daily life, solve our daily problems, authentically improve our world and progress toward our greatest human potential. By gradually learning how to meditate we will be able to release accumulated stress, develop a more focused, stable, and peaceful mind, and bring this peace into our relationships and our world.
If families wish to attend together, we have designed an adjacent sound-proofed room where your children can learn about these same teachings at their own level and pace. We are currently looking for teachers for our kids class. If you are interested in teaching please email epc@meditationforeveryone.org.
Simple, preparatory prayers in English set to beautiful music are used prior to the Sunday teachings, but no one has to participate if they prefer just to listen. The purpose of these traditional prayers is to remove negativity from the mind and cultivate a positive mental environment.
