Upcoming Meditation Retreats

  • Refuge Retreat: Friday, June 5 - 12. The fourth of the "Great Preliminary" retreats. During this retreat, which includes study as well as meditation, we deepen our experience of refuge in the Three Jewels of Buddhism.
  • The Happy Renunciate: June 19 - 21. Our second annual retreat in northern Alabama with Gen Kelsang Mondrub at Joe Wheeler State Park. "Renunciation" is an often misunderstood teaching in Buddhism.  During this meditation retreat, Gen Mondrub will teach us how to keep a light and happy mind as we develop a deeper wish for spiritual liberation from the cycle of problems and pain forever. Registration and more details available soon.

About Retreats at Rameshori Buddhist Center

Every year, Rameshori Buddhist Center offers weekend mountain meditation retreats for practitioners of all levels. Retreats are divided into beginner level retreats and intermediate/advanced level retreats. Please register well in advance for these retreats, as space is limited and the retreats are very popular.

Upon occasion, we also offer day retreats at the beginner and intermediate/advanced levels. These meditation retreats are typically held at Rameshori Center and usually have 3-4 sessions.

Additionally, Rameshori Center offers four annual in-city meditation retreats which are part of the "Great Preliminaries" traditionally engaged in before a long retreat. These four annual retreats are: the Guru Yoga-Mandala retreat, the Lamrim or Stages of the Path to Enlightenment retreat, the Vajrasattva or purification retreat, and the Refuge retreat. All of our in-city retreats are offered on a drop-in basis - no registration necessary.
