Special Weekend Event, March 13-14
Empower Your Heart
The Blessing Empowerment of Buddha Maitreya,
the Buddha of Loving-Kindness
By receiving this ancient blessing ritual and guided meditation, we will make a deep connection with Buddha Maitreya and create the causes to actualize Maitreya’s enlightened state for ourselves. Maitreya will bestow upon us the realizations of Kadam Lamrim, otherwise known as the Stages of the Path, as are found in The New Meditation Handbook. Through these meditations, we solve all our problems, and fulfill our own and others’ wishes.
In particular, we will empower the heart-essence of all Kadampa practices – the heart of loving-kindness. This will deepen our capacity to reach out to people with our love, and gradually cleanse all negativities from our mind.
Preparation for this special weekend is complemented by our ongoing Food for Thought classes, Awakening the Heart series and Transform Your Life Book Clubs. This weekend is also the perfect springboard for transformational experiences at our annual "Good Heart" Mountain Retreat: Reviving Unconditional, Universal Love, April 2-4. (See details for special pricing.)
Empower Your Heart Schedule:
Saturday, 11am – Free Introductory Talk – The Supreme Good Heart
As preparation for the empowerment, the Teacher gives a relevant talk before the blessing ceremony to sow seeds in our mind. In this talk, Gen Mondrub will reveal the greatest expression of love and the highest aspiration of the human heart. This will help us develop a pure motivation for receiving the empowerment.
Saturday, 2:30pm sharp – The Blessing Empowerment of Buddha Maitreya: The Pure Land of Love (No late entries allowed.)
Buddha Maitreya is the Buddha of loving-kindness. He comes from the Pure Land known as Tushita. Through his blessings, he will awaken the power of our love to purify our mind. Since there is no world separate from our mind, as our mind becomes more pure, so will the world from which it comes. Love is the great purifier.
Sunday, 11am, 2:30pm, 4:30pm –The Yoga of Buddha Maitreya meditation retreat and commentary
Cease to Do Harm – Meditations and teachings on non-harmfulness, loving-kindness and self-generation practice to create a new world
Immediately after receiving empowerments, Kadampas traditionally put the instructions they receive into practice while the blessings are strong and accessible. This is done to induce deep personal transformation. Gen Mondrub will guide us through all of Buddha’s teachings on Sutra and Tantra, whose union reveals the quick path to Enlightenment (based on Ven. Geshe Kelsang’s teachings from International Spring Festival 2009).
